How your data is handled

Waiting list, before launch. Updated 31 August 2026.

This page covers the waiting list on this site. When the app itself opens, it gets its own, longer version of this page, and you'll see it before you create an account.

What is collected

Your email address, and, if you typed one, the interest you wrote in the second box. Also a scrambled version of your IP address that can't be turned back into the address; it exists only to stop one machine submitting the form a thousand times.

What it's used for

One thing: telling you when the doors open. The interest you wrote helps me understand what people want to talk about before the app exists, and it's read by me, not by any advertising system, because there isn't one.

What it's not used for

Nothing else. No newsletters, no marketing, no selling, no sharing, no "partners." The address is not given to anyone.

Where it lives

On a server I control, in the EU. No third-party form service, no analytics, no tracking scripts. This page loads nothing from anyone else's servers.

How long it's kept

Until you've been told the app is open, and then deleted. If the app never opens, the whole list is deleted instead.

Removing yourself

Write to sameweirdapp@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. It's deleted the same day, no questions.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what's held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to your local data protection authority. The same email address handles all of it.

Who's responsible

same weird is an independent project run by one person, reachable at sameweirdapp@gmail.com.
